Shangri La's Designs Make Quite the Appearance at Fashion On the Rocks

Thursday, the 28th of August, Shangri La hit the runway at Fashion on the Rocks. This fashion show held at the Eilan hotel in San Antonio, Texas happens once a month leading up to Ferrari Fashion week.

The line shown by Oscar Hurtado, designer and owner of Shangri La, was in the style of formal dresses such as for a prom. This year, lace is making quite the appearance. As the models walked down the runway, their poised looks matched the style of the dresses.

Many designers made an appearance at the show. Glenda Jones, designer of Geeda J designs, has been sketching clothes since she was a little girl. Jones continued to state how she moved to the United States from the Caribbean and continued to design and produce clothing.

Jones watched the designs pass her on the other side of the stage as Xitlalt Herrera, Public Relations Manager at Neiman Marcus. All of these designers and fashion personal watched the sophisticated designs strut down the stage.

These shows produced by Lari Nelson, president of The Agency, will continue to happen every month until Ferrari Fashion Week in November. Shangri-La's prom style dresses are perfect for anyone on the search for a unique, sophisticated look for a formal event.

How To: Milkmaid Braid

Hello Trenders and Happy Wednesday! Woop Woop, Hump Day!
This summer has been quite the steamy one down in the south, and all I have wanted to do is pull my hair up off of my neck. Even though braids and ponytails can be done, a new up-do is fun every once in a while. Therefore on today's "How To", I am going to be teaching you how to accomplish what is known as the Milkmaid Braid. Even though it sounds different, this hairstyle has been easily spotted this season.

This is what you will need:
  • Hairbrush
  • 2 to 6 Bobby Pins
  • 2 Thin Ponytail Holders or Clear Elastics
This unique and summery look can be accomplished in just six easy steps.
  1. Brush out all of your hair until you are free of tangles and knots.
  2. Split hair into two sections.
  3. Braid both sections in simple braids all the way to the bottom of the hair piece.
  4. Take one section, wrap it over the top of your head, and pin it into place.
  5. Repeat the process with the other braid. Make sure the elastics and pins are hidden within the braids for a cleaner look.
  6. Lastly, to personalize the look, add a bow, a headband, or pull out pieces of hair for a messy style.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. Comment down below if you try this braid.
XOXO,
Kenzie Rae.

Beating the Summer Heat

Hello Trenders and Happy Father's Day! Since summer is upon us, the temperatures are rising and the sun seems brighter. It is hard to look cute in the summer without burning up from the heat. Today's outfit is a good look for beating the summer heat, but also looking fashionable.

My shirt is a plain white crop top from Charlotte Russe. The jean high waisted shorts I am wearing are from Abercrombie & Fitch. To finish off the look with a more casual sense, I used a pair of high top gray Converse.

I hope you enjoyed today's post. If you have not already, check out my post about the H&M grand opening! I had a blast doing interviews and talking to the shoppers.

What is your favorite activity to beat the summer heat?

La Cantera Welcomes H&M

La Cantera got a visit from over one thousand fashionistas today. While I showed up at 11:20am, many of these eager shoppers showed up as early as 5:00am to stand in line to get their hands on some of these high trending fashion pieces. H&M received quite a bit of business from the grand opening of their store in one of the fastest growing cities in the U.S.

As I arrived,  I got to experience the passing out of black umbrellas with a red band around the base and H&M's logo in white on the crimson band. This line of umbrellas stretched over half a mile around the mall. As I watched the line stretch out, I decided to go talk to some of the shoppers.

Melanie and Christopher Alva arrived at  La Cantera at 4:45am. They luckily were some of the few three hundred visitors to receive a scratch off gift card possibly possessing up to three hundred dollars of store credit.

"We got these Swag Bags. They come with a catalog, and a T-shirt, and a cool bag. She even got a water bottle", expressed Melanie Alva.

As the doors opened at noon, the workers joyously greeted us. According to one of the workers, she did not know she was going to come to San Antonio to support the opening of this store until two and half weeks ago. "I'm not from here. I'm actually from New Jersey. So they flew me all the way out here to support", she stated. She continued to say majority of the staff at the store were brought in from different H&Ms to support the grand opening of the La Cantera storefront.

The store began to fill up with eager shoppers attempting to get their hands on merchandise. A visitor began to express how she heard of this H&M coming because of the other stores in the U.S. Many shoppers swarmed the racks grabbing what they could get their hands on.

As I continued to shop around the crowded store, I bumped into Meagan who is in charge of Regional Visuals for H&M. She stated, "We have over three hundred stores in the U.S. Our corporate office is based in Sweden, but to open this store, we brought people in from all over the United States." A lot of work was put into opening this storefront in San Antonio. According to Meagan, this store has been under construction for quite a while and people have been setting up the inside of the store for over two weeks.

After a well spent couple of hours in the trending store, I left the building content with my purchases and my day. H&M has style for everyone. The workers at the store truly cared about the shopping experience of visitors. Today was such a blast and it was great getting to talk to some of the people who worked so hard to kick off this store. If you have never visited an H&M, I suggest you do. You would not be disappointed.

If you have visited an H&M, what city was it in?

I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.
