How the Military has Affected the Fashion World

Long before cargo jackets were incorporated into the fashion world, they were adopted by the military as a "uniformesque" look. The look was primarily adopted at the beginning of the 20th century and even though it is still prevalent as military wear, the fashion world has adopted it as a trend for this fall/winter season.

The first appearances of these jackets as a fashion piece was after World War 2 when civilians were starting to notice the olive green pieces were easy to work with, comfortable, and added a slightly more masculine look to the feminine styles of women. Since then, these jacket have cycled in and out of style similar to every other trend.

Cargo jackets have made a recent reappearance and are not a piece to be overlooked. These jackets can easily be worn to add a statement piece to any outfit. Now, a multitude of designers have featured their own take on the military "cargo" jacket. Thus showing how the military subconsciously impacted the fashion world.
